Let us walk you through how to set up your computer for Aardvark

Setting up TCP/IP

  1. Click the Apple menu -> Control Panels -> TCP/IP

  2. Open the “TCP/IP” control panel.
  3. Go to the “Connect via” dropdown menu and select “PPP”.
  4. Go to the “Configure” dropdown menu and select “Using PPP Server”.

  5. The fields “IP Address”, “Subnet mask” and “Router address” should all say “will be supplied by server”.
  6. Click the Options button in the bottom left of the panel and make sure the “Active” Radial button is selected. The “Load only when needed” checkbox will make no difference to the configuration, just so long as TCP/IP is active.

  7. Click “OK” button to exit TCP/IP Options.
  8. Close TCP/IP Control Panel using the close square in the top left close box.
  9. Click “Save” to save changes when prompted.

Proxy Settings

  1. Click on Apple menu -> Control Panels -> Configuration Manager

  2. Open up the “Configuration Manager” Control Panel and expand the Network option in the menu on the left of the Control Panel.

  3. Click on “Proxies” under “Network”.
  4. All proxy fields should be clear. No entry should be present in any field.

Dial-up Configuration

  1. Click on Apple menu -> Control Panels -> Remote Access

  2. Open the “Remote Access” control panel.
  3. Enter your dial-up account name in the “Name” field and do the same with your password in the “Password” field.

  4. If the computer you’re configuring for the Internet is your own or you wish to access the Internet again from this machine on your account, tick the “Save password” check box. However if you don’t check this box, you will be required to enter your password every time you log on.
  5. Enter the Aardvark dial-up number into the “Number” field and you're almost ready to go.
  6. Click the “Options” button in the lower right of the control panel next to the “Connect” button.
  7. Under the “Connection” tab make sure the prompt to maintain connection and disconnect if idle check boxes are unchecked.

  8. Under the “Protocol” tab make sure the “Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications”, “Allow error compression in modem” and “Use TCP header compression” check boxes are all ticked. Click “OK”.

  9. Click the “Connect” button at the bottom right side of the control panel to connect to the Internet.
